Historic house tours

While many enjoy Sandon Hall’s elegant surroundings as guests at a wedding or corporate function, few see beyond the public reception rooms of what remains the private ancestral home of the Earls of Harrowby. Public tours are rare but, when they happen, extremely popular – unsurprising given the fascinating history and enviable beauty of this architectural gem in the heart of Staffordshire.

During the tour you’ll learn about the history of the hall since the Harrowbys made it their home in the late 18th Century; discover how it was rebuilt in the Neo-Jacobean style following a tragic fire in the mid-1800s, see rooms rarely open to the public and the treasures held within the family museum - including clothing dating from the late 18th and 19th Centuries.

Tours will take place at the following times on both Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May 2017. Following the popularity of the house tours at last year’s Sandon Spring Fair, this year advance booking is essential.
